Matthew 5:14-16 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. v.15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. v.16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
I don’t know about you guys but, when it’s dark and I can’t see, I want a light. The light I usually use is my cellphone light because it’s close. But, I’ve noticed my cellphone light doesn’t seem to be as bright as my maglite and my maglite isn’t as bright as my spotlight. Have you ever noticed that?
The Bible here is telling us to shine our lights and to shine them bright! After salvation we have the light of the world, Jesus Christ in us! The question is are we hiding our light? Are we secret agents for Christ? We have a wonderful message to share! A message of life and hope! A message that can change lives and help broken hearts! A message that brings true joy and peace! Why are we blending in with the crowd? I believe it’s because we have a fear of what the people are going to think about us. I say this because I truly feel that way sometimes. I think Maybe they’re going to call me names or get mad and I don’t like that. But then I’m reminded of Proverbs 29:25 which says “the fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.” Trust the Lord! He’s going to help us and give us the courage and strength. And if they get mad, reject the tract or call us names, count it all joy, for Christ suffered first for us. What an honor to suffer for him.
Shine that light and shine it bright. Don’t be a cellphone light be a spotlight!! Don’t go anywhere without someone knowing that you love the Lord! Share His good news today! And “lay up for yourself treasures in heaven” (Matthew 6:19) by doing so. You can do it! I’m praying for you!!!
